Summer Bag Essentials
In this blog post, Olivia + Laura share all the essential items they need in their bags this summer.

If it's not obvious to you yet, Olivia + Laura love summer and will partake in any of its seasonal activities. But, to be ready for whatever summer throws at us, we have compiled a list of all our summer bag essentials that will take us from day to night. It is thorough, so use it as a checklist and fill up your summer bag!
Here's what you will need...

A Cute Bag
This goes without saying, but you will need a stylish bag to carry everything on this list. The bag does not need to be huge but it has to be large enough to hold what you need. A tote, straw-bag or backpack will do the job!
Sunglasses
Sunglasses are a MUST for summer! They block out the sun, prevent any unnecessary wrinkles and, a big plus is they help you see. Rectangle sunnies have been trendy this season, so pick up this affordable set from Amazon.
Sunscreen
We all love a tan, but nothing is worse than a sunburn and skin damage. The sun is dangerous, friends. So be sure to reapply SPF every two hours.
Hair Tie or Clip
If you should leave the house with one thing, it's a scrunchie or claw clip! Girl, you are already hot; no need to get even sweatier.
Wipes
Summer is hot and sticky, and if you're spending the day outside, you probably are sweating. So, having baby wipes or facial wipes in your bag is a game-changer, especially if there is no shower nearby. Keep a few wipes in a ziplock bag, wipe what you need and feel good as new.
Deodorant
We all apply deodorant before leaving the house, but sometimes we need a little refresh while we are out and about; so, keep a travel-sized deodorant in your bag (preferably, to be used after the wipe).
O+L Tip: Thigh Chafing
Swipe some deodorant between your thighs to limit friction and reduce the rash. You'll thank us for this.
Hat
Hats are not exclusive to bad hair days; they also protect your face and hair from damage. There's so many options, so whether you have a cap, sunhat or bucket hat in your bag, you'll look like a baddie.
Also, If you are an enhanced blonde like us, you'll want to listen to keep this one in mind because purple shampoo cannot fix all problems.
Lip Product
Even in the summer, your lips can get chapped. So always keep a chapstick or moisturizing lip oil in your bag. God knows how many Burt's Bees we've used!
PS: The original peppermint Burt's Bees is our holy grail product!
Water Bottle
We do not leave the house without a water bottle, so you will always see us with the reusable Starbucks tumbler or an insulated water bottle. It is so important to stay hydrated on a hot day!
Feminine Hygiene Products
Periods happen, and they are nothing to be embarrassed about. However, if you menstruate, you should always have a pad or tampon in your bag because nothing ruins a pool like a period.
Chewing Gum or Mints
There's a reason everyone attacks the person with gum or mints and, that's because everyone forgets to pack them yet, everyone seems to want one. Don't be those people -- pack some Excel gum.
Earphones or Speaker
Depending on your schedule for the day, you might find yourself needing some earphones for your walk to the metro or a portable speaker for a fun beach day with friends. Keep them handy for any scenario!
Face Mask
The most essential item you cannot leave your house without. Even with restrictions easing and being vaccinated, it is important to still wear your mask when needed. We make sure to carry a few in case anyone forgets!
A Sweater
If you're anything like us then a sweater is a must-have item in our bag. Especially towards the end of the day when it starts getting chilly, keep one handy! A comfy oversized sweatshirt or knit cardi does the trick!
Essentials
Now we know this is a given but you can always find our phone, wallet and keys in our bag. They are the essential items we truly never leave home without.
Thank you for reading this week's blog post! We hope you use it as a checklist or reminder of things you might be missing in your bag this summer. Like our moms always say, it's better to have it and not use it than need it and not have it.
See you all next week!
Xoxo,
