Making the Most of the Rest of Summer
In this blog post, Olivia + Laura share the things they are doing to savour every last drop of summer.
In the blink of an eye, summer seems to slip through our fingers, leaving us pondering if we've truly soaked up its essence. Don’t get me wrong — I’ve enjoyed my fair share of outdoor dinner parties, European Summer and pool days over the past couple of months. But seeing that I’m from Montreal, where it’s winter for 6 months of the year, I am determined to soak up every ounce of summer that’s left.
But no worries, we've got a whopping stretch till September 22nd to milk every last drop of summer magic. Although it might be too late to book a vacation (or not!), there’s a ton of end-of-summer activities that you can take advantage of!
Here are just a few of the things I’m doing while the weather is still nice!
Visit an Outdoor Festival
Being from Montreal, festivals have become part of our culture! There is a festival every weekend until the end of September — whether it’s food related or a concert, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Visit your Local Farmer’s Market
Now is the time to shop for fresh, local produce if you haven’t done so already! This beats the mundane grocery store routine any day. It’s a cute activity with friends or loved ones as well.
Host a Dinner Party
As we’ve already determined, I love a dinner party. Transform your outdoor space for the perfect evening with your favourite foods, drinks and people! Truly the best way to end a season.
Take a Day Trip
Maybe you didn’t get the chance to jet off to Europe this summer but that shouldn’t hold you back from travel! A day trip can help you scratch the itch without the stress and budget. Explore the cities around you, go for brunch, or head to the closest beach town. No matter where you live, you don’t have to go far to experience something new and make some fun memories.
Go for a Hike
The best way to soak in the summer weather is to be outside with nature! There are so many beautiful hiking trails in and around Montreal. Grab your besties, pack a picnic and go!
Read a Book
My favourite way to unwind in the summer is sitting on the patio with a coffee or cocktail and my book. Soak up all the vacation vibes through these books:
Happy Place by Emily Henry
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams
Head to a Rooftop Terrace
Besides festivals, rooftop terraces are a personality trait for Montrealers. If you have yet to hit one up this summer, this is your sign! Grab your friends, order a pitcher (or two!) and drink the night away. The views and the vibes will be exceptional.
By embracing the sun, exploring your city , and immersing yourself in the unique experiences summer has to offer, you can make the most of the remaining days. It's time to get out there!
Xoxo,
Laura from Olivia + Laura
